We are finding our demand for appointments is increasing week on week which can and does cause frustration for staff and patients alike.
For urgent matters which are first presentation for example chest infections, urine infections, ear ache. We will be offering to book you an appointment at Gloucester Health Access Centre or at another site locally, which may be at a time better suited to you. It is important that patients are flexible in where they are seen as the pressure on services is increasing daily. Please do not be offended if this is offered to you. The Service at GHAC and other sites are excellent.
For routine matters appointments to see your choice of doctor may be longer than previously but we are encouraging you to perhaps wait for them if the matter is not urgent. Continuity of care is very important to us and I am sure you will agree it is often better to wait a little longer to see the doctor who has previously been dealing with that particular problem.
Certain matters are best dealt with by our Practice Nurses for example travel advice and vaccination please be aware that our doctors are not trained to give specific advice in this area.
Please do not forget the local pharmacy offers excellent advice on minor ailments and can often deal with this type of problem without the need for a Doctor appointment.
